Sad, but true
@blotosmetek Apart from the guns, same here in the UK.
@blotosmetek Also health as the desire to keep restaurants open, etc. without any, ongoing mask requirements or air cleaning overruled all public health guidance.
@blotosmetek I do not only blaim capitalism, because governments can keep the excessess in line if they have good policies and good social security (in my country the Netherlands that went well to a certain point). Since Reagan and Thatcher neo-liberalism entered the world and since than capitalism went really south.
@sonjavan62 @blotosmetek Unfortunately for the vast majority of us, capitalism creates inequality by design. It's nonsensical to produce goods purely for profit instead of to fulfil need, especially as that encourages the manufacturer to build in limited life spans to their products
... I don't know how far the definition of Socialism extends, but the environmental track record of communism was pretty awful.
@blotosmetek I think you’re referring to America, not Capitalism.
@carlwolter well, I am pretty sure the original author was American - the guns are a dead giveaway, no other developed country has a problem with guns like the USA have; all the remaining problems they mention are, unfortunately, not limited to this one country, partly because so many people in other countries think that "American way of life" is a model to follow.
@blotosmetek
Capitalism DID NOT take your savings
You bought things you couldn't afford and YOU didn't save
@blotosmetek
As for the other "claims" most of it is a load of crap
@blotosmetek We could easily replace “Socialism“ with “the EU” and “Capitalism” with “#Brexit” for the purposes of this statement.
@StephenRees
A good chunk of those remarks seem USA-centric.
Canada seems to be doing its best to privatize health care, BC pays for private schools at the same rate as public and Canada has now admitted that much of the private sector education offered to overseas students is rubbish. Racism and patriarchy have long been totems here. We might be doing a bit better than the US on guns I suppose.
Capitalism has also denied us High Speed trains - just like the US - while most civilized countries have alternatives to flying
@blotosmetek author is plain wrong. Never saw no socialism in life. And all rights came with capitalism. And medicine. And quality of life. Socialism has a lot of ways to keep life short, so there's easier with pensions.
Only genocide is stronger in socialism. Not sure why it's better?
No. Socialism has literally never worked and it's marred with all the same bigotries and then some.

@blotosmetek The text version of this picture is below, taken from the picture's alternative text tag (just for those that may have missed it...)
"While you were so worried that Socialism would take your freedoms, Capitalism stole your pension, took your savings, destroyed the climate, shipped your job overseas, robbed you of health care, dismantled the educational system, and shackled you with debt, leaving you only your racism, xenophobia, patriarchy and guns."
